Ingredients:
- 250 grams of yellow soybeans
- Water
- A lemon
- Two large pots
- A strainer
- A wooden spoon
- Kitchen rags
Steps to follow to make this recipe:
One.Before you start making tofu at home, don’t forget to place a large, clean and dry kitchen towel in a colander, which in turn should be placed in a pot. Meanwhile, in another pot you will have to boil a liter of water.
Two.For the homemade tofu recipe, it is very important to soak the soybeans in a liter of water overnight. The next day you will have to drain it well, before placing the soybeans in a very powerful blender, along with three quarters of a liter of water (0.75 liters). Beat very well at maximum power for several minutes until these ingredients acquire a creamy texture.
3.Next you will have to pour this soy puree into the boiling water that we have heated in a pot. Mix all these ingredients very well with a wooden spoon and over high heat, but be careful not to burn your homemade tofu recipe.
4.If the pot begins to foam up, it will be time to remove the recipe from the heat and pour it into the strainer with the kitchen towel. With the help of the wooden spoon you will have to squeeze the soy mixture well to extract all the liquid. Then you will have to repeat the process again: boil the soy puree in 0.5 liter of water, and drain the mixture again with the help of the kitchen cloth.
Do not forget that to make homemade tofu you must carry out this operation of boiling and draining the soy puree twice.
5.The next step in our homemade tofu recipe will be to boil the soybeans again for about 6 minutes but this time you will have to add the juice of a lemon. Stir well so that all the ingredients are integrated and let it rest for a few minutes away from the heat. Then you will have to re-drain the tofu on your kitchen towel, following the explanations above. Although these steps are repetitive, they are very important to get the tofu to solidify.
6.When you have finished all these steps, you will have to remove the kitchen towel and let the tofu soak in very cold water for at least 10 minutes, or until it acquires a certain consistency and is ready to consume. What did you think of our recipe? Do you dare to make homemade tofu?
